I have been doing so much treadmill running lately that I am running out of DVR’ed shows to watch. I need my reality shows to start soon or my motivation might start stalling.
I am signed up for the Color Run this summer in Indianapolis. I was out-of-town last year during the Color Me Rad run so I am excited to be able to be a part of this. I have heard a lot of good things about it. I created Team Runner by Default. Anyone that wants to join in is welcome. The more, the merrier!! It is July 20th which is the week of my birthday so I see a girl’s weekend/party in my future!!
I received an email from the Little Rock half marathon about the unveiling of the medals for this year. I was not too happy to realize that the full marathoner’s get the huge medals and the half marathoner’s are half that size. The only reason I chose that race was for the large medals!! Boooo!! I agree that the full marathoner’s deserve different recognition for their effort but I REALLY wanted that large medal!!
Oh well, I still have Florida and warm weather to look forward to. One more weekend of this cold weather!! The high for Tuesday is only going to be 14 degrees!! BBBRRRRRR………….

oooh I haven’t done much racing, but from what I have done, the full marathoners always get the biiig medals while the 1/2 get the smaller ones..so I thought it’s like that for basically all races!

I guess I assumed that since the large medals are the gimmick to this race that everyone would get one regardless of the distance. Oh well, I will still get one to add to my collection, just not as large as planned. Plus a fun girl’s weekend!!

I sooo want to do a color run! It just looks like it’d be fun. But a medal is still a medal! It’s more than what some people get

I am excited about the Color Run. My sister did it last year and said it was a blast!!

I am doing a color run this summer too, but I am going to be farther east on I-70, in Columbus. Come do that one instead! I have mixed feelings about it because it just seems too “froo-froo” and less run-run. Does that make sense?
Posted by runnerbydefault on January 16, 2013 at 8:21 pm
Makes total sense! I don’t think there will be much running. More for fun than for a fast finish time. Sounds like it should be a good time!! I know a lot of non-runners that are doing it. I think it is great that this type of run fires people up that wouldn’t normal do a race. We should have a contest and see which one of us can get the most colorful at our races!!

Challenge accepted

Oh I might take you up on that Color Run! I’m doing a Color Me Rad in March and I’m super excited.

That would be great!! You will have to let me know what you think of the Color Me Rad run. The one in Indy isn’t until September.

Woa! That sounds like a cool race
Yeah… the marathon medals always look so much cooled but I guess they deserve them

This would be the one full marathon that might entice me to run it instead of the half if I knew about the medals before signing up. I said MIGHT though!

I did a color run (different series) a few weeks back. They are so much fun! As long as you go KNOWING that it’s for fun, and not to race, you’ll have a great time!
Posted by runnerbydefault on January 18, 2013 at 7:01 pm
I can’t wait! I am really excited to do this with my teammates/friends. Most of them aren’t runners so I am sure I will stick with them and just have a good time.

A color run sounds like so much fun! When is it? I was just looking at signing up for a class in Indy this spring.

It is Saturday, July 20th. It takes place downtown. You should definitely sign up, if you are going to be in town. Team Runner by Default could use more teammates!!

I will be in town earlier but the BOY has a lot of friends in Indy. I will chat with him about a visit!

Sigh, color runnnnn! I would L.O.V.E. to run one but there are none in western NY. Sad face
Maybe I should travel for it… after the tough mudder… I’ll still come drool over your recount of the experience.
Posted by runnerbydefault on January 23, 2013 at 11:57 pm
I am surprised there isn’t a color run near you. They seem to be everywhere now. Good luck on the tough mudder. I would try that race if it wasn’t for the electrical shock that I have heard about. That scares me!!

Just found a color run in my area!! I have a reminder on my calendar to register as soon as registration is open!

Dangit…you’ve been really looking forward to that medal. Do you dare switch races and jump in to the full mary?
Posted by runnerbydefault on January 28, 2013 at 1:03 am
No. I am not ready (not sure I will ever be) for that!! Just going to take my new bling and learn to like it. I better get a cool looking shirt to make up for the disappointment though!
