After 2 glorious weeks off work and enjoying the sunshine in Florida, it is business as usual tomorrow. I am impressed with myself because I usually don’t run much on trips but I did 44 miles total on this trip. I could totally become an outdoor runner if I could run along the water daily. I am so dreading the treadmill tomorrow although I do have the Biggest Loser to catch up on so that will help.
I ran all the way around the island one day (my OCD kicked in so I stopped short because I wanted it to be an even mileage, not some other random number!).
Don’t judge……I don’t do hair or make-up on vacation!
Our last night in Key West, we went to the Aqua Nightclub to see the drag queen show. We have been before and it was so much fun. Our favorite drag queen, Inga, wasn’t performing that night so that was a bummer but everyone else was just as awesome as ever!
Faith as Lady Gaga
Maya did a great Tina Turner too
Sassy knows how to work the crowd!
This was my final view from our room in Key West. Our next stop was Fort Lauderdale.
The blimp made a daily appearance while we were there.
I ran along the strip at night and my Nike app tried to tell me at the 1 mile mark that I had ran a 4 mile min. Yeah, fat chance of that ever happening!! I noticed later that the GPS was a little spotty in areas and that was the problem. I ran 5 miles that night and even in the dark, I could have ran forever. Must be something about that saltwater in the air. My next half marathon is less than 4 weeks away and all this outdoor running helped boost my confidence.
Disclaimer: Ignore the nasty toenails, that is not what this picture is about!
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, I stubbed the crap out of my 4th toe on a chair in our room. I didn’t realize until later that night just how messed up it looked. That was even after my 5 mile run. It didn’t bother me a bit while I ran. I was worried at first that it might be broken or something but it doesn’t really hurt! Just looks nasty!
After leaving Fort Lauderdale, we took A1A up the coast on our way to Cocoa Beach. I love this section of road!! It feels like you are in a tunnel of trees.
Years ago, we stumbled across a restaurant on Hutchinson Island called Mangrove Matties. They serve this awesome Nut Crusted Flounder Caesar that is amazing!! Anytime we are in the area, we have to stop in for lunch. So good!!
Our final night in the Sunshine State was spent in Jacksonville. This sign was posted behind our hotel. Whenever the boy and I are in Florida, we refer to the dog as gator bait. We made sure to keep a close eye on the dog when he was doing his business!!
We hit up the movie theater to see Identity Thief. The movie theater we went to was so nice. It had a huge screen with awesome picture quality and stadium seats that rocked like rocking chairs. So cool! We both loved the movie too. You can’t go wrong with Melissa McCarthy though. Love her!!

The movie is definitely worth checking out, especially if you can see it cheap!! Some parts were definitely funnier than others.

Great job getting in so many miles on vacation! I always have BIG plans to run when I go out of town, but usually I only manage half of what I plan.

Thanks! I think I am usually all or nothing. Run the whole vacation or none at all. Luckily this time it was all!!
